The MakerBot is a fun new tool we have in the Technology Lab. The MakerBot is a 3D Printer, which uses a 3D computer model to print out any object you can design in ABS plastic. The MakerBot draws a picture with plastic, then moves up a little and draws another picture on top of the first one, until the object has been built up into a 3D item. 8th grade students learn about rapid prototyping and 3D modeling as a part of their standards and will create objects to be printed on the MakerBot. All other students can purchase MakerBot items as part of the TSA's fund raiser. Check out the video for an explanation and example of how the MakerBot works.
